Japanese maple rectangle post earrings
All items are handmade and are one of a kind from foraged wild and domesticated plants. I collect whatever is in season on my daily walks, usually in the Philadelphia area. The composition of my pieces range from traditional (using whole, pressed flowers and leaves) to more abstract. Each piece involves laying jewelry-grade resin in several layers, over several sittings.
All handmade jewelry will have natural imperfections, and that’s what gives each piece their alluring details, originality and soulful nature. Variations and "imperfections" are not unwelcome.
2 inch long cut out brass rectangles, overlaid with red Japanese maple samaras. It’s very unusual to find rectangle earring, and I usually vie away from right angles, but I find the scale of airy-ness of these quite alluring. I used to make quite a few of these.
The brass is sealed within the resin, so no fear of tarnishing or of allergic reactions. Finished with stainless steel posts and silicone backs.
