circle wire wrapped dendrite agate ring size 7.25
I wanted to make a ring, the style of which I’ve never seen before anywhere, and I came up with this.
20mm wide sterling ring with a stunning dendrite agate stone that includes a pretty rare dot inclusion with ripples around it, and then surrounded with lightning-like zags. Wrapped in wire with a single ball accent and patinated in about 3 different colors (charcoal, orange, and a bit of bluish-green). The stone is translucent and a thin twisted wire underneath the stone continues the wrapped look inside the bezel area. Thin sterling band with maker’s mark on back, size 7.25.
I started metalsmithing out a desire to work with stones like these. The fractal dendrite (tree-like) designs and inclusions match well with my biophilic botanical work. I always start with the stone, and design around it, striving to dignify and complement the dendrite as much as possible.
