Chunky silver backed oval with lichen II
All items are handmade and are one of a kind from foraged wild and domesticated plants. I collect whatever is in season on my daily walks, usually in the Philadelphia area. The composition of my pieces range from traditional (using whole, pressed flowers and leaves) to more abstract. Each piece involves laying jewelry-grade resin in several layers, over several sittings.
1.5 inch long and 1.25 inch wide silver backed oval with black back and overlaid with lichen ethically foraged from the woods of Maine. (lichen is a whole organism, as opposed to a flower, which is just a fruiting body. Ethical foraging of lichen involved collecting fallen specimens that will die and rot anyway). So much power in Usnea! Medicinal, and an indicator of good pure air quality.
Finished with 24 inch silver plated chain and lobster clasp.
